The Krpata Kids’ Favorite Rides at Walt Disney World!

Wondering what rides your kids will enjoy at Walt Disney World? I decided to interview my own kids to get their opinions on what their favorite rides are at each of Walt Disney World’s 4 parks! These two are pretty much polar opposites when it comes to ride styles.

Here is what they had to say!

Sebastian - Age 9

A thrill seeker! Wants to own a theme park someday!

Magic Kingdom

  • Space Mountain - “I like Space Mountain because it’s dark and you can’t see what’s happening which makes it a lot more exciting.”

  • Splash Mountain - “I like that it’s a water ride and that there are big drops.”

Animal Kingdom

  • Expedition Everest - “I liked the part where you go up to the broken tracks and then go backwards really fast. Also all the hair ties on the side is funny.”

  • Flight of Passage - “I like Flight of Passage because it seemed so real that when water splashed, I felt it. Also I liked the ride vehicles.”

EPCOT

  • Test Track - “It was cool that you can design your own car (even though we couldn’t do this when we went) and it’s fast!”

  • Mission Space (Orange) - “I liked how I felt very heavy at some parts and very light at some parts.”

Hollywood Studios

  • RockNRoller Coaster - “I liked how I felt like I was falling out of my seat. It was really intense and I like intense rides.”

  • Rise of the Resistance - “First of all, it’s Star Wars and I like Star Wars. Also I felt joy when we were able to get a Virtual Queue boarding group.”

Lyra - Age 6

Definitely a princess. Favorite question is “Does this ride have any drops or tilts?” The opposite of a thrill seeker. Happy sitting on the hub grass.

Editors Note: Lyra wanted her interview to be done off the record, so these answers are a summary of her responses and the author’s notes.

Magic Kingdom

  • “it’s a small world” - Her first ever ride at Disney World and the bar all others must now live up to. “Is this a slow moving boat ride?” Highly recommend this as an intro for any kiddo who might not have expereince with dark rides. Each parent took a turn on this one with Lyra. She loved all the “dolls” and singing and dancing in the boat.

  • Under The Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid - Another ride we rode multiple times. A fun and quick telling of the movie with all the songs you want to hear. A tiny part where you go backward, but just look up to see a familiar face!

So many great options for all ages in this park. A few more favorites of Lyra’s were the Mad Tea Party (teacups) and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.

Animal Kingdom

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris - Who doesn’t love the safaris? Lyra was a little nervous at first, but once we got going and she saw the animals she LOVED it.

  • Wildlife Express Train - She was so ready for the Affection Section that she asked about this all day long on our last trip. A slow moving train that you ride facing sideways. Get a glimpse at the animal care centers backstage, and enjoy time at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

There are so many wildlife trails and play areas to experience in this park that if you have a kid who loves animals they might not even need to get on a ride!

Two others Lyra chose not to do that I think would be a hit on future trips are Na’vi River Journey and TriceraTop Spin (think Dumbo with Triceratops)

EPCOT

  • The little trains in Germany - Not a ride, but I honestly think Lyra could have stood here all day watching them. Also if you look closely to see if you can spot some hidden Disney friends.

  • Meeting Elsa - This was honestly Lyra’s top moment of EPCOT (possibly of the trip) and the Frozen ride was a bit too much for her at this point. (We will try again).

  • Bonus - The aquarium section at The Seas with Nemo and friends. We went through the ride exit so she didn’t have to ride. We spent a lot of time looking at the sea life here and truly enjoyed the break from the sun. There is a fun scavenger hunt you can do here as well.

There are also play areas, exhibits and fun things all over the park that don’t require a ride.

Three others Lyra chose not to do that I think would be a hit on future trips - Gran Fiesta Tour with The Three Caballeros, Living with the Land (small thunderstorm part), and Journey Into Imagination with Figment.

Also, note that Remy’s was not quite yet open on Lyra’s last visit so we are hoping that would be a top contender, but I’ll have to report back once she tries it.

Hollywood Studios

  • Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - This one took a little convincing to get her on (thank you wonderful humans in line behind us), but she loved it! Lyra’s pro tip would be to bring a sweater or jacket on this ride, as she got chilly during one scene of this ride (we won’t spoil anything here!). We’ve watched ride-throughs of this more than a 100 times since riding it.

  • Alien Swirling Saucers - Lyra is a big fan of this ride! A cool spin on the teacup or “spinny cups” style ride. Fun versions of Toy Story songs play and we dare you to ride without giggling. We rode this one at least 4 times on our last visit.

Not a ride, but she also LOVED the Frozen Sing-A-Long show and we would highly recommend that for all ages!

So there you have it. What do you think? Are the kiddos in your life more like Lyra, or Sebastian?
