Space 220 Review

I’ve now had two meals in space. The first trip was in 2023 on our family trip where we had lunch high above EPCOT. The second time was dinner with Lyra on our recent mother-daughter trip. After two visits I think I have enough data to formulate a review.

This restaurant was slated to open originally in the fall of 2019. We had a family trip planned for the summer of 2020 and I remember this was high on our must-do list! Well, we all know how 2020 went and this restaurant was delayed again and again. Not even opening until after our May 2021 trip. So the anticipation to finally get a chance to check it out was high when we arrived there in the summer of 2023!

The experience is a lot of fun, even more so if you’re a fan of space, spaceships, astronauts, etc. You get a ticket aboard the transport that will take you up to the space station above Earth to dine. Once there you’ll be seated in either the dining room if you have a Restaurant reservation or around the bar area if you have a Lounge reservation. These are two different experiences from there so make sure you know which one you’re booking!

Restaurant - a fixed price meal with 2 courses at Lunch ($55 per adult and $29 per child) and 3 at dinner ($79 per adult and $35 per child) - prices at the time of writing this post, and are of course, subject to change.

Lounge - Food and drinks ordered a la carte.

Reservations are recommended for both, but I know that the lounge side does some times have walk-up availability. My advice would be to arrive just as they open for the day (around 11:30am) and ask to be put on the waitlist. Smaller parties will be easier to seat and larger parties will need to split up as the largest table the have seats 4 guests.

We have done the restaurant experience both times. While the meals were both good and we all loved the atmosphere, I don’t think I’ll do that side again. I would say it’s max - one and done (and I did it twice to be sure). The food while good, never blew me away and the prices are higher than the distance up in space! For that, I want to love every bite. The other thing is that there are definitely good seats and bad seats in this restaurant, and I’ve had bad seats twice. My back was to the “window” into space the first time (which I chose so the kids could see) and the second time we were at the end of the row so my back was again to most of the activity and I had to keep straining to see what Lyra could see. I’m not sure how they could make it so everyone could see, but keep this in mind if that’s important to you - and if you’re shelling out the cash, it probably is.

I would 100% do the experience again for a light bite on the lounge side, so unless you really want to do the sit down meal experience, I would recommend that instead. Kids will love it, and adults won’t feel like they need to take out a second mortgage just to pay the bill. It really is a cool experience, just budget accordingly!
